His True Face, the great Test!

The achievement His True Face is a dream of most achievement hunters. Many have been testing their theories for years in search of this achievement and in that time have performed the most varied tests, but still, even with an exhaustive search, the achievement remains a mystery to a large part of the community.

From the different reports of people who have obtained this achievement, it can be concluded that there are 2 possible ways to get it. The first is during mission 3 of the Blood Brothers Quest (called His True Face, by the way) and the second is for those who have already completed this quest and regularly visit the tavern of Armenius, but in a way that remains mysterious to this day.

Such a mysterious achievement with so much history deserves a special post and a test to match it. Thus, we will show here an extensive test report conducted around His True Face, as well as its result, conclusions and recommendations.

The test was motivated by reports from Annie Arelluf and Mithas (Both from Astera Server). They were performing mission 3 of Blood Brothers Quest and the moment they repeated the Alori Mort spell to npc Armenius they were thrown into the sewer. Until then the chance of getting the achievement seemed totally broken, but both decided to return to meet the master vampire and when they stepped on the first floor of his tavern they received a surprise: They were teleported to the basement of the place and received the achievement His True Face!

Based on these reports, it was planned a way to verify and assemble statistics on how to obtain the achievement. The creators and executors of this test, which took place in Astera from 14 to 17/12/2021, were Aurea Atti (Gentebra Server), Suuper-Till and Brighid Grand Explorateur (both from Yonabra Server). The same was sponsored and supported by Axy (Astera Server), who was also the “guinea pig” character that would test if he could receive the achievement, even after having completed the quest.

140 characters (7 full accounts, gallery below with all character names) of level 8 were prepared, all with access to Yalahar and with mission 3 of Blood Brothers Quest in progress, each character spoke Alori Mort to Armenius twice. The expectation would be that such action would “activate” some mechanism on the floors of the entrance to the Tavern enabling a char who has already completed the quest (Character Axy in this case) to get the achievement. Every time the level 8 character received one of the 2 possible answers from Armenius, being thrown into the sewer or staying in the tavern, the Axy character would walk over the tavern entrance floors and check if the sqm had been “activated”.

Unfortunately the char that had already completed the Blood Brothers Quest and accompanied each character level 8 at the entrance of the tavern did not get the achievement, even witnessed at least 3 times the low level characters being “pulled” to meet Armenius, video below.

Of all the characters in the test, 126 of them were thrown into the sewer and 14 remained in the tavern. Considering all characters in one statistic the chance of getting the achievement was 12 per 140, a success percentage of 8.57% (Or one success every 11-12 tries).

The 126 characters who were thrown down the sewer accounted for 90% of the total, by the time they cast the second Alori Mort they received the message below:

Oh, the nerve. Go to the rats which raised you.

Of these 126 characters, 11 received the achievement His True Face as soon as they returned to the tavern (specific success rate of 8.73%, or 1 success every 11 attempts), note that none of them started mission 4, we believe that by starting this mission the character loses the right to earn the achievement in the conventional way.
In order to test if each of these characters could receive the achievement, it was necessary to take (one by one) the characters from the sewer to the tavern of Armenius again.

The 14 who remained in the tavern represented 10% of the total, at the moment they cast the second Alori Mort they received a message like the one shown below:

Oh, the nerve. Sod off.

Of these 14 characters, only 1 earned the His True Face achievement. (Specific success rate of 7.14%).

  • It was thought that characters that received the response “Oh, the nerve. Sod off” would always receive the achievement (because we have the TibiaBR video that showed that: video link), but this proved to be false. Even by statistics the chance of getting the achievement with the two possible phrases are similar, the difference is that those who are thrown into the sewer will have the additional work of returning to the tavern.
  • For those who thought they had no chance to get the achievement after being thrown into the sewer, returning to Armenius’ tavern is an excellent idea since one to every 11 attempts (on different characters) will get the achievement.
  • Game time has no influence, characters got the achievement during the night and also during the Tibian day.
  • There are no influences of objects, blood or furniture in the Armenius room that increase or decrease the chance of getting the achievement.
  • There is no influence of states (poison, burning, bleeding) on getting the achievement, at least not in this way.
  • There is no influence on items on the body or backpack of the characters, after all, they were only level 8 without anything important or valuable.
  • The extreme rarity of the achievement is justified that instinctively (and also by indication of the Quest Log) very few people returned to the tavern of Armenius and continued delivering the mission to the npc Julius, doing this seems to disable the chance (if any) of the player to get the achievement the first way.
  • The cases of people who received the achievement during the quest are just the small crowd who received the message “Oh, the nerve. Sod off” and stayed inside the tavern. These people would obviously have to leave the tavern, and when passing through the exit sqms they would activate the script that would check if they got the achievement or not. To those who have landed in the sewer, the vast majority would “burn” their chance by following the next mission with npc Julius. If this scenario were considered likely, only 1 in 140 would earn the achievement, making it 12 times rarer than it actually would be with the information gathered from this test and previous reports.
  • The sqms that activate the “trap” that pulls the character to the basement with Armenius are the 2 near the entrance of the tavern, as pictured below:

  • The time to return from the sewer to Armenius’ tavern does not matter, the “voucher” for your hold (if you are within the lucky 8.73%) seems to have no validity (or at least would not expire on Server Save), this chance is individual, if another player passes over the sqms it would not “steal” or affect your chance. This point seems to be very similar to Horestis, those who break his jar can face him whenever they want, without validity.
  • Armenius can appear more than once a day. On the first day of testing he appeared 3 times and on the second day, 9 times. Notice this stats photo, there were 11 characters killed in total by Armenius, however 1 of the characters didn’t die because he managed to get out through the teleport before this happened, at the end of the post there will be a gallery with the 12 achievements photos.
  • The fact that someone is in the tavern at the moment you pass over the 2 possible activating sqms doesn’t seem to influence it, since during the test several characters gained the achievement even with someone else beside them inside the tavern.

Recommendations are for new characters or those who are yet to do mission 3 of Blood Brothers Quest. If the character is thrown into the sewer DO NOT go to Julius, return to Armenius’ tavern and pass over the 2 sqms of the entrance, if not pulled into the basement, then go to Julius and continue your quest.

Unfortunately, there is still no clear way to obtain the achievement for those who have already completed the quest, but with the data from the conclusions you get a good idea of the process:

  • The Sqm does NOT activate from time to time (like Man in the Cave), it is always “active”, the problem is the requirement that the player must meet, now the question: what is this requirement? We came up with several theories, and after discussions, we believe that it involves stepping on some sqm near the counter immediately after a floor reset and returning to the exit (like something similar to what Lord Strikee did in this post), an explanation would be that in the case of floor reset is when Armenius would search for food, and find an unsuspecting player near his counter would activate his instinct to pull him to the moment he tries to leave the tavern (This explanation is based on ideas and has no proof).

Armenius’ tavern just after a floor reset.
  • The mechanic will possibly not be that different from how it occurred in these tests, probably game time, condition on the character (poison, burning, bleeding, etc.), room furniture or set items do not or will not affect the outcome.
  • Unlike what one would expect from theories that might suggest Armenius resembles Man in the Cave, the master vampire always spawns again every time a player is thrown into the basement and receives the achievement (this can be confirmed in each of the achievement screenshots in the gallery at the end).
  • If someone already killed/killed Armenius on the day you are testing don’t give up, it wouldn’t mean a problem since he can appear more than 1 time a day and that was proved in this test, check the picture below in which there were already 2 bodies of other characters that got the achievement minutes before:

Below, a photo gallery of each of the 12 His True Face achievements obtained, at the end, we say goodbye and hope that this post will be useful to finally unveil this achievement!
