This is one of the articles that was submitted to the Secrets of Tibia 3 contest. It was written by Pokesini.
Since the early days of Tibia, players have been fascinated by the mysteries and secrets hidden within the game. Among these enigmas, the great books, or “Tomes”, occupy a prominent place. With their vibrant colors and mysterious properties, these “Tomes” are described as "The Mystic Secrets of Tibia". Although this is fascinating, the books cannot be read or written, and there is, to date, no other interaction between them and the world of Tibia.
To fully understand the nature of this great enigma, it is crucial to revisit the known tomes and their origins. Initially, five distinct Tomes were identified: the Purple Tome, the Red Tome, the Blue Tome, the Gray Tome, and the Green Tome. Each of these Tomes has a unique story and a connection to specific creatures and locations within the world of Tibia.
The Purple Tome, for example, is associated with the domain of demons and is obtained through drops from these nefarious creatures. The Red Tome has its origins linked to creatures with histories intertwined with demons, such as Warlocks and Ferumbras himself.
The Blue Tome, initially obtained in the old “Demon Legs quest”, is also connected to demons. It was discontinued but ended up becoming a drop from Ghazbaran, a powerful demonic boss.
The Gray Tome, in turn, was found in Mintwallin, but curiously not among the minotaurs, as might be expected, but rather among the Daemons, who would later become the demons known today. It should be noted that according to the book “Chronicle of Mintwallin III”, written by Markwin, king of Minos, Daemon himself was responsible for taking the lands and forcing the Minotaurs to retreat.
Finally, the Green Tome was obtained on the Isle of the Mists, specifically in the Plains of Havoc (PoH), an area in which the game's lore itself makes it clear that it was a place where demons and other undead beings invaded, before being sealed in the Pits of Inferno (PoI).
This intrinsic connection between Tomes and demons has always intrigued me and made me want to research more, based on a deeper plot involving these magical artifacts.
Let's work with the information we currently have based on numbers and colors:
In the world, there are three primary colors: red, blue, and yellow. Interestingly, two “Tomes” carry two of these colors. Next, the secondary colors: purple, orange, and green. Two other “Tomes” also carry two of these colors. Finally, we have the combination of all the colors that would give black... but we don't have the black Tome but rather a Gray Tome, which would be a combination of ALMOST all the colors. And guess which color is missing? Exactly… Yellow!
This, in itself, would be intriguing enough for us to develop a theory that there is a Yellow Tome missing for the Gray Tome to become the “Black Tome”, or the definitive book for Tibia's mystical secrets. But focusing only on this physical aspect is not enough, so we will work in another area of research.
Another fascinating theory suggests that the Yellow Tome may be directly linked to the legendary Demon Oak Quest, one of the most challenging and enigmatic in Tibia. With its requirement to defeat 6666 demons, the quest is already loaded with symbolism related to the number 666, often associated with evil and the figure of the "Number of the Beast". However, the inclusion of another 6 in the number of demons defeated could indicate a direct connection with the supposed sixth Tome.
While for years the existing 5 “Tomes” have been linked to the idea that they were points of a Pentagram (like the one in Edron), perhaps players have overlooked the fact that they are linked to the creature that most symbolizes evil: the Demons themselves.
It is necessary to make it clear that there is a high chance that we are talking about an item or a quest that has not yet been implemented. But, if the theory of the Yellow Tome's existence is correct, finding and unlocking it could be the culmination of an epic journey behind many of Tibia's unrevealed secrets, opening up space to contain ancient knowledge, powerful magic, or even revelations about Tibia's darkest secrets.
And here, adding the theories between colors and numbers, we have another last observation: in the Drefia Library, it is possible to find the book “The Hierarchy of the Demon Lords”, which interestingly is orange (one of the secondary colors, which is the sum of Yellow + Red) and which, despite not providing any information, adds to the mystery of the great books and the demons that are always present in the game's lore.
As players continue their tireless search for answers and solutions to Tibia's mysteries, the enigma of the Yellow Tome remains an intriguing and exciting challenge that I propose to all lovers of the team's yet unrevealed secrets. Only time will tell whether the existence of this legendary tome will be revealed.
